Teresita Chavez Pedrosa is a lawyer with a background in journalism. She is interested in every aspect of communications,particularly the effective use of social media and communications law. She is fascinated by how technology and social media are disrupting the legal profession and journalism, and is a dedicated student of developments in these areas. Ms. Chavez Pedrosa regularly lectures on the innovative use of social media and compliance with the applicable laws. Ms. Chavez Pedrosa has contributed to news publications, including the Huffington Post, and has provided legal commentary on television. She has also taught law students to improve their writing skills while teaching legal research and writing as an adjunct professor at Florida International University’s School of Law.

Ms. Chavez Pedrosa has a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Tulane University. She also has a Bachelor of Science inCommunications, with honors, from the University of Miami. She currently serves as General Counsel for Eventcrowd. Ms. Chavez Pedrosa is also part of the planning committee for Social Media Week Miami and the Legal Diversity &Inclusion Sports Classic. Ms. Chavez Pedrosa was a partner at Adorno &Yoss, where she litigated and represented clients like R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, Pfeizer, Johnson & Johnson, Shell and ExxonMobil. Prior to this, she worked at the law offices of Rivkind & Pedraza, representing seamen and passengers in lawsuits against the major cruise lines.

Ms. Chavez Pedrosa is also a dedicated child advocate. As an Attorney ad Litem, she has represented abused and neglected children in dependency proceedings. In 2012 Lawyers for Children America recognized her work and her dedication to foster children, by awarding her theJohn Edward Smith Child Advocacy Award. She is a current director of Florida’sChildren First.

Ms. Chavez Pedrosa is active in many community organizations, but has been particularly involved with the Hispanic National Bar Organization. She has served the HNBA in numerous capacities, including as National Vice President of Membership, President of the FloridaRegion, on the Executive Committee, on the Board of Governors, on the Commission on the Status of Latinas in the Legal Profession, on the Editorial Board of Noticias and on the National Finance Committee. In 2011, the HNBA recognized Ms. Chavez Pedrosa as Regional President of the Year.
