Oscar Menjivar is a pioneer in bridging the technology gap in low-income communities. He developed innovative technology strategies, which have transformed the lives of thousands of Angelenos.

In 2010, Mr. Menjivar founded the non-profit URBAN Teens eXploring Technology (www.URBANTxT.com), an organization that inspires young men of color to become technology leaders. URBAN TxT uses coding to help students learn entrepreneurship, public speaking, and critical thinking skills. He also serves as the Educational Technology Consultant for The Riordan Foundation. At The Riordan Foundation he advises executives, civic leaders and school officials on how to best invest in technology to provide a high quality education to prepare students to compete successfully in the 21st Century.

In 2005, Oscar ran a successful consulting business for over four years. Oscar was one of the first Spanish speaking technology consultants for Small Businesses in the Los Angeles County. As a small business technology consultant, Oscar guided over 100 entrepreneurs in business technology planning, marketing, and budgeting.

In 2002, Oscar joined the Long Beach YMCA Youth Institute (YI) as Multimedia Technology Program Coordinator. Oscar was instrumental in helping the YI grow from a staff of four to a national model, which now teaches thousands of kids multimedia arts.

As a www.ZeroDivide.org Fellow, Oscar fine-tuned his skills to promote social justice through the use of information and communications technology. The fellowship allowed Oscar to build his advocacy skills for bridging the digital divide in urban communities. Oscar earned a B.S in Computer Information System from Cal Poly Pomona and a Masters in Instructional Technology from Pepperdine University.
