Jackie Gil is a public relations specialist with a journalism degree from the University of Houston. She serves as a liaison for the Ford Hispanic team, communicating with the media and organizations in Houston.

Jackie is also the creator, executive producer and host of recently-launched mobile platform web series ¡COLOR!, tailored for today’s adventurous, conscientious and trendy Latina. The show spotlights extraordinary people and their stories and explores provocative topics. It broadcasts online at www.mycolor.tv.

She is also a content producer for Comcast’s local channel: www.houstonsvoice.com, and contributes for www.hispanichouston.com, www.uhelgato.com. She recently competed and won the NewU Entrepreneurs Fellowship $3,000 grant to develop the first year of the web series.

Jackie has about 10 years of experience working in the media industry, holding various positions in front and behind the camera, from helicopter photographer at KPRC to being an anchor and U.S.-Mexico border correspondent at KGNS and an editor and video journalist at KBTX. After leaving the U.S.-Mexico border Jackie was commissioned to co-produce an independent feature film, “In Search of the American Dream,” a fictional story of undocumented families broken apart by current immigration laws. She serves on the board of the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals helping aspiring journalism students get the assistance they need to pursue their dreams. She was also an enthusiastic team member and coordinator of the LATISM 2012 National Conference in Houston.
