Christina McGeough is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator at the Institute for Family (IFH).  She has experience working in urban communities facilitating nutrition, health, wellness, and diabetes education in community, clinical, and business settings.  Since 2005, she has worked in predominantly low-income minority neighborhoods that are plagued with high rates of diabetes, obesity and other chronic conditions.  In her current position at IFH she is the Diabetes Program Coordinator.  Christina’s roles include promotion and implementation of diabetes program services in the Bronx and Manhattan, supervising Diabetes Care Managers to identify and target diabetes patients at highest risk for developing complications, and providing individual and group education to patients living with or at risk of developing diabetes. In addition, Christina works on a consultant basis with Visiting Nurse Service of New York using mobile health technology to engage adolescents with type 1 diabetes in their self-care. She is also a national volunteer on the American Diabetes Association Latino Initiatives subcommittee. Christina is passionate about development and facilitation of creative approaches to health and wellness targeting minority populations.
