Mary Fernández is CEO of MentorNet (www.mentornet.org) a mentoring community devoted to encouraging the persistence and success of individuals pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), from the earliest point of interest through every advancement.  Mary spent seventeen years at AT&T Labs Research, most recently as Assistant Vice Present of Information and Software Systems Research.  Mary is an active volunteer and leader in local and national organizations whose missions are to advance computing research and to increase the representation of women and under-represented minorities in STEM professions. She is a director of the Computing Research Association (www.cra.org), and a STEM Role Model, HISPA Hispanics Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement (www.hispa.org).  Mary received undergraduate and masters degrees in computer science from Brown University and the Ph.D. in computer science from Princeton University.  She and her husband have two teenage daughters, who keep her up to date on fashion and technology trends.
