"R.E.A.C.H.: How Latino small business owners can create opportunities within the general market"

While we often think of Latino multi-cultural marketing as positioning general market brands to be relevant with Hispanic consumers, recent studies have found that Latino culture has a significant influence on the customs, traits, and tastes of the dominant U.S. culture. By delivering marketing strategies that are Responsive, Experiential, Authentic, Consistent, and of High-quality, today’s Latino small business owners can create opportunities to expand their products and services into the general market while maintaining the integrity of their own cultural values.

The target audience is Latino small business leaders seeking to expand their brand’s clout within the general U.S. market.

Content Creation Is The Ultimate Fan Advocacy

Relationships are the new currency. Instead of buying static ads to push products and services, the modern business needs to focus on a return on relationships and the power of one-on-one interactions. The largest return on relationships stems from advocates and the media created on behalf of a brand. Join this discussion with a leader in the industry, Ted Rubin, as he unveils the power behind "Return on Relationships."

Millennials: Creative, Sociable and Largest Market since Baby Boomers
Latinos in Social Media (LATISM) South Florida will be presenting an insightful panel discussion about the Millennial generation.  The Millennials - also known as Generation Y or GenY'ers - are those born during the years between 1982 to 1999 (loosely) and constitute a generation that is as large as the Baby Boomers (estimate put them at 75 million).  The societal, family, and changing world factors that have affected this generation are very different from Baby Boomers and make this generation difficult to typecast or to define.  They have become of age in the years of rapid technology growth.
The panel will look into how Millennials are influenced by "peer" reviews and how they use social media to acquire information and - this might sometimes be more important - to share information and create content. The panelists will be Millennials themselves and they will explain and define - from their own experiences - not only their generation but also what they have encountered in the workplace and what creative plans they have used as communicators presenting case studies that have been successful.
We will show demographics of how companyies have been able to attract the Millennials attention through creative marketing and show some numbers about the integration of those campaigns with in the GenY community.

Work, life and balance: ¿se puede?
Women in general, and Latinas in particular, struggle with the expectations that are the cultural norm within our community. Then they run into the reality of juggling different roles while still trying to balance it all. This session is geared towards women who want tips to help find more balance, deal with unsolicited advice, set limits with la familia and the in-laws, and realize they can define how they want to live their lives, regardless of what mami, abuelita and hermanas say. The idea is to let go of what everybody else expects from you to fulfill what you have defined as your goals, both in your personal and professional lives.

Limited Capacity seats available

Businesses of all sizes can no longer rely on a single or a few marketing channels to attract qualified prospects, engage audiences, and connect with key influencers. For brands to effectively connect with consumers and users across various channels, market niches and devices, building relationships across functional teams is a must.

In this conversational type panel, speakers will showcase their own experiences in creating relevant sharable content and working with cross-functional teams with shared goals. Leaders in their respective arenas of Hispanic search engine marketing, Latina mom blogging, multimedia production and broadcast PR will discuss the Nexus between SEO, Social Media and Public Relations; Marketing to Latinos and working with cross-functional teams; and the future of search, Latino SEO/SEM and online video.

The panel discussion will be divided in THREE (3) tracks:

4.    CONTENT CREATION - Developing content that speaks to your audience

5.    CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT - Engaging your audience with a clear purpose

6.    INTEGRATED MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS - Bringing new life to your marketing communications

Enjoy and be prepared to ask questions for the Q&A!

"Latinos Beyond Reel" Documentary Presentation
(80 Minute Screening, 30 Minute Discussion)

"LATINOS BEYOND REEL is a hard-hitting documentary about how Latinos are marginalized and vilified in the U.S. media—with grave consequences."One in six adults and one in four children in the US are Latinos, but their reality is rarely depicted in the mainstream media. Interviews of scholars, actors, filmmakers, and Latino children reveal a striking pattern: in both news and entertainment, Latinos are overwhelmingly represented in narrow and negative ways, as people who are a drain on, and a threat to, society. Most disturbingly, children’s games and cartoons contain violent connotations against Latinos. This film documents the history, evolution, and meanings of these images, and how they deeply and harmfully affect Latinos, and the nation as a whole.

Screening of "The Fifth Estate"
Limited Capacity seats available

Triggering our age of high-stakes secrecy, explosive news leaks and the trafficking of classified information, WikiLeaks forever changed the game. Now, in a dramatic thriller based on real events, “The Fifth Estate” reveals the quest to expose the deceptions and corruptions of power that turned an Internet upstart into the 21st century’s most fiercely debated organization. The story begins as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) team up to become underground watchdogs of the privileged and powerful. On a shoestring, they create a platform that allows whistleblowers to anonymously leak covert data, shining a light on the dark recesses of government secrets and corporate crimes. Soon, they are breaking more hard news than the world’s most legendary media organizations combined. But when Assange and Berg gain access to the biggest trove of confidential intelligence documents in U.S. history, they battle each other and a defining question of our time: what are the costs of keeping secrets in a free society—and what are the costs of exposing them?"

“The Fifth Estate” is presented by DreamWorks Pictures and Reliance Entertainment in association with Participant Media and is produced by Steve Golin and Michael Sugar, with Bill Condon directing. The screenplay is by Josh Singer, based on the book “Inside WikiLeaks” by Daniel Domscheit-Berg and the Guardian book “WikiLeaks” by David Leigh and Luke Harding. The film will be released in U.S. theaters on October 18, 2013.

Teaching and Learning on the Cloud: Google Apps in Education (Workshop)
Limited Capacity seats available

Google Apps for Education offers a free set of customizable tools that allow teachers and students to create, collaborate, and learn together anytime, anywhere. As the benefits of cloud computing become more evident (e.g., increased storage space and computing power, no more specialized hardware or software to install and maintain, and the freeing of resources and funds), more and more educational institutions are choosing to use Google Apps for Education. This workshop will introduce educators to the ways these tools can be used to create shared calendars, collaborate with others online, on documents, presentations, and spreadsheets, deliver and collect quizzes and feedback, and set-up an internal video portal. It is recommended that participants create a Google Apps for Education account before attending this workshop.
